Field Hockey ACCtion: Friday, October 17
Oct. 17, 2008
BC Field Hockey Post Come From Behind Victory Over Northeastern The Boston College Field Hockey team defeated the Northeastern Huskies Friday night under the lights at the Newton Campus Sports Complex 4-3. The victory marked the team's 10th win of the season. Northeastern struck first, netting the first goal of the game three minutes in on a converted penalty stroke. The Huskies struck again to make the game 2-0 in favor of Northeastern at the middle of the first. No. 5 Blue Devils Roll Over William & Mary WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – A hat trick from senior Marian Dickinson propelled the No. 5 Duke field hockey team to a 7-1 road victory over William & Mary Friday night at Busch Field, moving the Blue Devils to 11-3 (2-2 ACC) on the season. Dickinson also added an assist for a seven-point performance, while all of her goals came after halftime. The seven goals was the highest output of the season and the most for Duke since scoring seven on two occasions during the 2006 season, on Sept. 16, 2006 against Appalachian State and on Oct. 9, 2006 against Villanova. Dickinson also had a trick in that Appalachian State game. Defense Keys 2-1 Comeback Win for Terps Field Hockey at Old Dominion COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland field hockey team knew that the Old Dominion team they were playing on Friday night was not the same as the team they had beaten 8-1 in early September. This ODU team was on a 5-2 run and looking once again like the team that has given the Terrapins fits over the past several seasons. Fortunately for Maryland, Old Dominion wasn't the only team to have improved over that time. The Terps came from behind late to take a 2-1 victory in Norfolk. Senior Emma Thomas, who was not on the roster for the first game, scored the game tying goal with just over 11 minutes to play, and junior Nicole Muracco added the game winner six minutes later.
