Cavaliers Blank Longwood 5-0

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The 13th-ranked Virginia field hockey team (11-5) blanked Longwood (6-8) 5-0 Thursday at the U-Hall Turf Field. Second-year Traci Ragukas and first-year Paige Selenski scored a pair of goals while Michelle Vittese also notched a score in the winning effort. With 11 wins, the Cavaliers matched their win total from the 2007 campaign.

The Cavaliers scored three goals in the first half and scored twice in the second. Virginia outshot the Lancers 23-6 for the game and notched seven penalty corners compared to two for Longwood.

First-year Adrienne Ostroff also made her first career appearance in the cage for the Orange and Blue, after missing most of the season rehabbing an injury. Ostroff finished with three saves in the second team. Teammate Amy Desjadon, who started the game, recorded one save.
