Oct. 13, 2007 NORFOLK, Va. - Behind a two-goal performance by junior Laura Suchoski and a tally apiece from junior Marian Dickinson and sophomore Amie Survilla, the 11th-ranked Duke field hockey team cruised to a 4-0 shutout victory over Longwood on Saturday afternoon at Old Dominion's Foreman Field. Duke got on the board just two and a half minutes into the game as Survilla connected on a penalty stroke for the second consecutive contest to give the Blue Devils an early 1-0 lead. The goal was Survilla's sixth of the season.
A minute and a half later, Suchoski found the net as she knocked in a rebound following a Longwood save off a Blue Devil penalty corner attempt to put Duke ahead, 2-0. The tally was Suchoski's fourth of the year.
Boston College 3, Northeastern 1 BOSTON, Mass. - No. 12 Boston College got back on track, beating Northeastern, 3-1, at Sweeney Field on Saturday, Oct. 13. The Eagles improved to 9-5, while the Huskies dropped to 6-9. The Huskies struck first, notching a goal in the 13th minute. Ashley Webber inserted to Stephanie Casper, who took a hard shot from the top of the circle. The ball nailed the back of the goal board for the first score of the game.
The Eagles evened the score four minutes later on a corner of their own. Junior forward Kathleen Murphy inserted the ball to junior midfield Katie Quaglia for the stick stop. Senior Caitlyn Young fired a direct shot on goal, which found the back of the net. It marked Young's second goal of the season.
