No. 4 Deacons Down App State, 6-0
The fourth-ranked Wake Forest field hockey team blanked Appalachian State 6-0 on Sunday afternoon at Kentner Stadium. Freshman Lizzie Rae led the Deacons in scoring with two goals during the match.

Wake Forest is now 8-3 for the 2009 season and App State falls to 6-6.

Wake Forest scored all goals in the first half. Adelaide Knott opened up scoring for Wake Forest when she made a quick cut to the center of the circle and landed an unassisted goal in the 5th minute.

Duke Defeats Boston University, 5-1
Duke tallied five goals in an efficient offensive performance against Boston University today at Newton Campus Field at Boston College, beating the Terriers, 5-1. Senior forward Amie Survilla notched a hat-trick, scoring the game-winning goal in the 26th minute of play.

Duke took only 10 shots to Boston University's 12, but the Blue Devils were able to connect on half of their attempts. Junior goalie Samantha Nelson had a nice day in the cage, recording six saves and giving up only one goal on a penalty stroke. Duke and Boston University had three penalty corners apiece.

The Blue Devils established control in the first half, scoring twice to get the early 2-0 on the Terriers. Sophomore forward Jordan Miller scored for the second time this season at the 15:59 mark, taking a pass from freshman midfielder Mary Nielsen and ripping a shot from the middle of the circle for the goal.
