No. 1 Terps Hold Off No. 3 Virginia
The No. 1-ranked Maryland field hockey team held off a strong effort from No. 3 Virginia. The Terps took a 3-1 win over their ACC rival to stay perfect at 12-0 (2-0), while Virginia fell to 11-1 (1-1).

Senior Nicole Muracco scored twice and senior Emma Thomas scored once for the Terps, while senior goalkeeper Alicia Grater had seven saves on the day. The game was physical and hard-fought from the very beginning, proven by a total of 12 cards issued throughout the game.

Neither team scored until late in the first half when Virginia's Paige Selenski scored off of a fast break up the side with just under three minutes left in the half. Maryland did not score until ten minutes into the second half when Muracco knocked in a shot from Thomas off of a penalty corner setup.
