No. 1 Terps Beat American, 3-0
The No. 1-ranked Maryland field hockey team won 3-0 on the road over the American Eagles Tuesday afternoon in the cross-town match. Senior Emma Thomas scored twice in the win to move the Terps to 11-0 on the year.

Maryland jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when junior Katie O'Donnell took control of the ball and drove down the sideline before taking it in to score just under two minutes into the game. The score stayed at 1-0 for most of the game as both teams fought hard defensively.

Just over 15 minutes left in the game, the Terps drew a penalty shot off of an American defensive play. Thomas took the penalty shot for the Terrapins and hit it into the right side of the goal for the score. With less than a minute left in the game, Thomas scored again off of a penalty corner setup from O'Donnell and senior Alexis Pappas to finalize the score at 3-0.
