Top Terps Tames Towson Tigers Seniors Emma Thomas and Nicole Muracco each added a hat trick, while Ameliet Rischen, Katie O'Donnell, Megan Frazer and Janessa Pope all scored one apiece. The Terps had an impressive 14 assists on the day and took 28 shots to the Tigers' six. Five of Maryland's goals came from 10 penalty corner set-ups. O'Donnell notched five assists and senior Alexis Pappas added four. Thomas had three assists of her own and freshman Harriet Tibble had an assist and took five shots on the day. No. 3 Deacons Hold Back No. 18 Indiana 5-2 With the victory Wake Forest improves to 5-1 and Indiana stalls at 4-2. Wake Forest dominated possession throughout the contest, out-shooting the Hoosiers 16-3 and holding a 10-0 advantage in penalty corner attempts. No. 10 Boston College Pulls Away In Second Half To Defeat Monmouth University 7-1 The win moves the Eagles to 6-0 which puts this year's field hockey team in a place where no Boston College field hockey team has been in this decade. The 6-0 start marks the best start to a season for the Eagles since 1998. The last BC field hockey team to start 6-0, or better, was the 1998 squad that started 6-0 before falling to Northeastern.
Kate Gillis got the BC scoring started in the eighth minute of action as she scored on a backhanded shot from an Emily Kozniuk pass to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Cavaliers Blank Ohio 5-0 Selenski's hat trick is the first for the program since Mia Link scored three times against Longwood in 2004. The shutout marked the fourth of the season for the Cavalier defense. Junior goalkeeper Kim Kastuk finished with two saves in the cage. |
