CHARLOTTESVILLE - Three members of the 2002 University of Virginia women's rowing team's first varsity eight have earned All-America honors from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA). Senior Madeline Engel (Mercer Island, Wash.) and sophomore Jennifer Reck (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich) are first-team All-America selections, and senior Lauren Mitterer (Kirkland, Wash.) earned second-team All-America honors.

Engel, Reck and Mitterer were first-team All-South selections by the CRCA earlier this summer, and Reck is also a National Women's Rowing Scholar-Athlete.

Virginia's first varsity eight finished 10th at the 2002 NCAA Women's Rowing Championships and the Cavaliers were fourth in the final team standings. UVa is one of just four schools to compete in each of the six NCAA Women's Rowing Championships.
