Tar Heels Sign Four
June 7, 2007
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina rowing coach Sarah Haney has announced the signing of four standout student-athletes - Kelsey Grich, Andrea McGovern, Audrey Mosley and Kristi Roblin - who will join the Tar Heel squad this fall. "We are very excited about this class of athletes coming to UNC in the fall," Haney said. "They all possess the positive characteristics and attitude that will help contribute to the goals of this program." Grich, from Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., has been rowing since her freshman year of high school and earned the Coach's Award for her team in 2006. She also played soccer at Cold Spring Harbor High. "We are excited to have Kelsey join Carolina Rowing next year," Haney said. "She brings with her a true sense of teamwork and what it means to work together. That positive attitude will fit in great with our team philosophy." McGovern is from Bala Cynwyd, Pa., also the hometown of UNC senior Lisy McIntee, an All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection the last two years. She rows for Episcopal Academy and is a three-year team captain, as well as recipient of the Harter Award as the team's most improved rower. McGovern also played soccer at Episcopal and served as team captain her senior year. "Carolina Rowing welcomes Andrea to our team for next year," Haney said. "We are delighted to have her join us because she is a dynamic leader. She works hard, knows what is needed to succeed and will push her teammates to do the same." Mosley is from Chattanooga, Tenn., where she attended the Baylor School. She rowed in the Southeast Region Champion varsity eight in 2005 and was a member of the Southeast Region team for 2005-06. She also was a 2005 Nationals qualifier and served as team captain in 2006. She helped her team to a state championship in soccer in 2004 and to a city title in cross country in 2005. "Audrey is extremely hard-working," Haney said. "She is always willing to push herself to the next level and beyond. Because of that work ethic, we are delighted to have Audrey join us next year." Roblin is from Orlando, where she attended Boone High School. She rows for the Orlando Area Rowing Society and earned the Novice Rower of the Year Award for 2003-04. "Kristi absolutely loves the sport of rowing and she appreciates the team aspect of the sport," Haney said. "We are happy to have Kristi join us as she will continue her love for this sport here at UNC. That passion towards rowing will help keep the positive attitude and strong work ethic that this team has created."
