Duke Rowing Team To Compete At Clemson Classic This Sunday
April 26, 2002 The Duke Rowing team will return to Lake Hartwell in Clemson, S.C. to compete in the Clemson Classic on Sunday, April 28. The races will be a contest for regional supremacy when the 19th-ranked Blue Devils, 24th-ranked Clemson and Tennessee take on 14th-ranked Washington State and 17th-ranked Oregon State. The Blue Devils are coming off a second place finish at the ACC Championship last weekend in Clemson. They are looking for very solid team performances as this will be the last race weekend prior to the Central/Southern Regional Championships, May 18-19. The teams will compete on a 2000 meter course in five boat classes: varsity eight, second varsity eight, freshman eight, varsity four, and novice four. The race begins Sunday at 9:00 a.m. Schedule of Events: 9:00 am Varsity Eight 9:25 am - Varsity Four 9:50 am - Novice Eight 10:15 am Novice Four 10:40 am Second Varsity Eight Directions to the Clemson Boathouse: * Take I-85 South to Exit 40. Make a right turn on SC Highway 153. Follow this road until it turns into Highway 123. * Take 123 South to 93. Go South (Left) on 93 toward Clemson, SC. * Turn South (Left) on Perimeter Road. Take the first right onto East Bank Road.
* A soccer field is on your right and a creek on your left. Turn right up the hill and drive slowly over the speed bumps until you reach the Clemson Boathouse.
