Blue Devil Second Varsity Eight Wins B Final At Lexus Central/South Sprints

The Duke University rowing team placed fourth in the South Region and 11th overall at the Lexus Central/South Region Sprints in Oak Ridge, Tenn. over the weekend. The Blue Devils collected 207 team points while competing in the varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four. Virginia, Tennessee and Texas finished ahead of Duke in the South Region.

Duke's Second Varsity Eight closed its season by winning the B Final. The Blue Devil crew completed the course in 6:58.5, nearly three seconds ahead of second place finisher Notre Dame (7:01.2). Cincinnati (7:02.3) placed third, while South Region foes Tennessee (7:05.3) and Texas (7:06.2) rounded out the top five.

In the Varsity Eight, Duke placed fifth in the B Final with a time of 6:56.6. Michigan State won the race in 6:49.9, with Notre Dame (6:51.3) and Minnesota (6:54.0) claiming second and third place. Iowa finished fourth with a time of 6:54.4.
