The Duke University rowing team battled Washington State in three heavily contested races on Saturday at Lake Hartwell in Clemson, S.C. In the varsity eight, the 11th-ranked Cougars topped the Blue Devil crew, which ranked 22nd in the latest USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association poll, 6:35.9 to 6:44.0.

Duke's varsity four had a strong race finishing in 7:44.0, with the Cougars taking the race with a time of 7:34.4. Washington State's second varsity eight collected a win over Duke's freshman eight, 6:45.0 to 7:08.6.
