UVa Rowers Impressive At Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. - The University of Virginia women's rowing team won five of six races against Princeton and Yale on Saturday (April 22). The Cavaliers won the second varsity four, the first novice eight, the second novice eight, the first varsity four and the second varsity eight races. Virginia finished behind Princeton and Yale in a close race in the first varsity eight. UVa finished with a time of 8:08.2 in the second varsity four race to defeat Princeton (8:12.8). Virginia won the first novice eight competition with a time of 7:13.4 followed by Princeton (7:15.8) and Yale (7:31.4). The Cavaliers finished first in the second novice eight with a time of 7:38.8 and Princeton was second at 7:52.1. UVa won the first varsity four race with a time of 7:58.3 followed by Princeton (8:13.1) and Virginia 'B" (8:20.2). The Cavaliers finished first in the second varsity eight competition with a time of 7:01.1 followed by Princeton (7:03.3) and Yale (7:34.9). Princeton won the first varsity eight race with a time of 6:55.3 followed by Yale (6:57.4) and Virginia (6:58.8). Virginia hosts the first Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Rowing Championships on Saturday (April 29) at Lake Monticello. The preliminary competition begins at 9:00 a.m. with the finals scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
