Rodriguez and Jones Earn ACC Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Florida State senior forward Leonor Rodriguez and Duke freshman guard Alexis Jones have been named the ACC Women’s Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively by the Blue Ribbon Panel, as announced Monday afternoon by league officials.
Rodriguez averaged 19.0, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game at the San Juan Shootout to help the Seminoles stand 5-0 overall for the season. The native of the Canary Islands (Spain), made all eight of her field goal attempts, including three 3-pointers and three free throws, en route to a 22-point performance in a 90-51 win over Eastern Kentucky. Rodriguez followed that up with a 16-point and five-rebound outing to help Florida State upset No. 17/19 Vanderbilt in the tournament finale. Rodriguez shot 80-percent (12-15) from the field and was perfect from the charity stripe (9-9) for the tournament.
Jones averaged 10.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.0 steals in a pair of wins over Valparaiso and Xavier for the Blue Devils. Against the Musketeers, the Midland, Texas, native poured in 14 points, while dishing out five assists. She pulled down a career-high nine rebounds and added seven points in a 90-45 win over Valparaiso.
