The 2011 ACC Women's Tournament will mark the 12th consecutive year the Coliseum has played host to the event. Last year, the Tournament set a new single-game attendance record in the opening round's School Day game with a crowd of 11,445 that featured approximately 7,800 elementary students, nearly 2,000 more than the year before.
The ACC returns 41 of last year's 60 starters and 100 letterwinners for the 2010-11 season, including 13 of the league's Top 20 scorers and seven of the Top 10 from a year ago. In addition, the ACC welcomes 10 of the 15 first-, second- or third team 2010 All-Conference honorees, including three of last year's five first-teamers.
Four ACC schools are ranked among the nation's best as Duke, Florida State, North Carolina and Maryland are listed in the Top 25. The Blue Devils, which won their sixth ACC Tournament crown last year and first since winning five-straight from 2000-04, are ranked No. 6, while Boston College, Georgia Tech, Miami, NC State and Virginia are all getting nods for Top 25 respect.
