Nov. 12, 2007

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Tickets for the 2008 ACC Women's Basketball Tournament, to be held March 6-9 at the Greensboro Coliseum, are now on sale.

"The 2008 Tournament could be the most competitive tournament in ACC history, so all I can say is "get your tickets early," said ACC Associate Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade. "Pre-sales to our schools have been the highest ever so this is a very exciting time for ACC Basketball."

The ACC features five of the top 25 women's basketball teams in the country and boasts three programs in the top 10. Fourth-ranked Maryland returns four starters and eight letterwinners from last year's 28-6 squad that reached the NCAA Tournament for the fourth year in a row. The Terrapins are coming off an impressive win over No. 6 Oklahoma in last weekend's State Farm Classic, where eighth-ranked North Carolina defeated No. 12 Arizona State. To wrap up the top 10 ACC squads, first-year Duke head coach Joanne P. McCallie will take over the ninth-ranked Blue Devils, a team that went a perfect 29-0 during the regular season in 2006-07 and reached the NCAA "Sweet 16".
