ACC Announces Production of Educational Video
Oct. 23, 2007 GREENSBORO, N.C. - Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford announced today that production has begun on an educational video targeted towards elementary and middle school students, primarily young women, appropriately titled, "Life Lessons, On and Off the Court." "We feel this is an excellent opportunity for our league coaches to share their inspirational stories of success, failure and perseverance through basketball," Swofford stated. "All of the league coaches are mentors who teach valuable lessons to their student-athletes that extend long after their final collegiate competition." "This is an excellent addition to the partnership between ACC Women's Basketball and the school systems here in Greensboro and surrounding counties. Anchoring this partnership is an extensive written curriculum posted to NCLearn.com," ACC Associate Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade said. The 30-minute educational video is intended to motivate and inspire young women by focusing on character traits necessary for success and balance in life. "Life Lessons" will include five segments, plus a five-minute introduction by Swofford and legendary NC State head coach Kay Yow.
