Next season's Honda Elite 4 Holiday Classic was announced today with three coaches in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame leading their respective teams into the December doubleheader: legendary coach Pat Summitt of Tennessee, Louisiana Tech mentor Leon Barmore and N.C. State's Kay Yow. The match-ups feature Tennessee (31-3) vs. NC State (22-11) and Duke (30-4) vs. Louisiana Tech (31-5).

The doubleheader will take place at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex near Orlando on Sunday, December 2nd.This year marks the fifth consecutive season Intersport television has produced the event with ESPN scheduled to air the Tennessee-NC State game at 1pm (ET) and ESPN2 televising the Duke-Louisiana Tech match-up at 3pm. All four teams are projected in the top ten for the 2001-02 season and all four reached the `Sweet Sixteen' in this year's NCAA tournament.

The legendary Summitt has built a dynasty at Tennessee, having won six national titles and made more Final Four appearances than any other women's basketball coach. In addition to an outstanding recruiting year, the Lady Vols return three starters: seniors Shalon Pillow and Michelle Snow, as well as junior Kara Lawson. Snow became the first female player to dunk on national television in a game last season. The Wolfpack is led by All-ACC selection Carisse Moody, the team's leading scorer and rebounder and a member of the USA National Team. The Lady Techsters return all five starters while the defending ACC champion Blue Devils are led by ACC Freshman of the Year Alana Beard and sophomore Rometra Craig.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Honda Elite 4 Holiday Classic will be played in the 5,500 seat fieldhouse, dubbed "The Milk House," at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex. Last year's classic included an outstanding nationally-televised doubleheader. Seventh-ranked Georgia beat No. 6 Rutgers, 82-53 and eventual champion Notre Dame, ranked No. 4, defeated North Carolina, 78-55.
