INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee has selected NC State to serve as host and the RBC Center to serve as the venue for one of the eight first- and second-round sites of the 2007 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship. NC State last hosted the first and second rounds in 2003 and the RBC Center hosted the women's first and second rounds in 2001. The exact dates and times will be announced at a later date. However, the two rounds will either take place on Saturday, March 17 and Monday, March 19 or Sunday, March 18 and Tuesday, March 20, 2007.

"I'm very excited that NC State, the RBC Center and the city of Raleigh, N.C. have been selected as a first and second round site for the 2007 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament," said Nora Lynn Finch, Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Women's Administrator at NC State. "It brings the finest of women's college basketball to our fans, helps the championship to play in a quality arena like the RBC Center and to be showcased in the state of North Carolina."

The Administrative Committee of the NCAA Division I Championships/Competition Cabinet has approved the sites.

The following first- and second-round sites will host games either Saturday, March 17 and Monday, March 19 or Sunday, March 18 and Tuesday, March 20, 2007:

NC State's 31-year head coach Kay Yow will look to lead the Wolfpack program to its 19th NCAA tournament appearance. After 34 seasons, Yow owns a 674-308 record and is 617-289 at the helm of the Wolfpack Women.

"Bidding to host a site is very competitive," said Yow. "I know our athletics department did a great job of gathering the necessary information and presenting it to the NCAA Cabinet. I credit Nora Lynn Finch a lot for making this happen. With all of the schools in the area competing to host, it with NC State receiving the selection it says a great deal about our facilities, our program, the university and the state of North Carolina."

The NCAA also announced the regional sites for 2007, as well as the first- and second-round and regional sites for 2008.

The following regional sites will host games either Saturday, March 24 and Monday, March 26 or Sunday, March 25 and Tuesday, March 27, 2007:
