NC State To Host First and Second Rounds Of 2003 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament
July 1, 2002 Raleigh, N.C.--NC State was chosen as a host for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament from March 22-25 in Reynolds Coliseum. The last time NC State hosted an NCAA Tournament game in Reynolds Coliseum was March 16-18, 2001 when the Wolfpack competed in the East sub-regional as the bracket's fourth seed. NC State hosted the Women's East Regional this past season in the Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena. "I feel fortunate to have been one of the schools chosen for the first and second rounds," said NC State head coach Kay Yow. "Going to pre-determined sites for the first time, is another first for women's basketball and this program is proud to be a part of that. We've been a part of a lot of firsts and this is just another one of those. Every school would like to be a host and hopefully we can take advantage of this wonderful opportunity." NCAA officials made the announcement Monday, after the Championships/Competition Cabinet approved Indianapolis and regional sites for 2004, 2005 and 2006 at its three-day meeting last week.
Other first and second round sites include: Manhattan, Kan.; University Park, Pa.; Norfolk, Va.; Boulder, Col.; Storrs, Conn.; Norman, Okla.; West Lafayette, Ind.; Stanford, Calif.; Eugene, Ore.; Raleigh, N.C.; Athens, Ga.; Ruston, La.; Knoxville, Tenn.; Lubbock, Texas; Albuquerque, N.M.; and Cincinnati, Ohio.
