Duke Selected To Host NCAA Women's Basketball First & Second Rounds in 2004
June 30, 2003 INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - The NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee released the 16 sites for the first and second rounds of the 2004 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship on Monday. Duke will host for the eight time in school history at the historic Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C. Other institutions receiving first and second rounds sites include-- University of New Mexico, Iowa State, University of Texas at Austin, Louisiana State, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Tennessee-Chattanooga, Ohio State, Fairfield, Minnesota, Montana, Temple, University of California-Santa Barbara, Notre Dame, Florida State and Arizona State. The first and second round sites for the 2004 championship will be held March 20 and 22 and March 21 and 23. Duke registered a school and ACC record 35-2 record last season and advanced to the NCAA Final Four for the second straight year. The Blue Devils return four starters including Kodak All-America selections Alana Beard and Iciss Tillis. Head Coach Gail Goestenkors will enter her 12th season with the Blue Devils.
