Women's Basketball Lands Two Players on 2007 All-ACC Academic Team
June 29, 2007 GREENSBORO, N.C. - First team All-ACC members Alison Bales of Duke and Crystal Langhorne of Maryland headline this year's All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Women's Basketball Team. Sixteen student-athletes, including five 2006-07 all-conference team selections, were recognized following their academic accomplishments, as announced Thursday by Commissioner John D. Swofford. Senior center Kathrin Ress and senior point guard Sarah Marshall were named to the team this season. Ress, who is currently playing for the Minnesota Lynx in the Women's National Basketball Association, was the Eagles leading scorer (16.4) and rebounder (8.2 rpg.) in the 2006-07 season. A third-team All-ACC selection, Ress was also the fourth in the conference in scoring and fifth in rebounding. Marshall, who led the Eagles in assists and minutes played, is a two-time member of the All-ACC Academic women's basketball team. She was first for the second straight season in leading the ACC in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.11 ratios). Marshall was also second in the ACC in assists (5.68 apg.). She had 543 career assists, enough for second on the Eagles all-time list. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
