Stinson is the WNBA's fourth leading scorer this season

June 14, 2001

Former NC State basketball star Andrea Stinson will have a chance to put herself in the WNBA record books tonight when she takes the floor for the Charlotte Sting. Stinson will enter tonight's contest against the Utah Starzz needing only six points to become only the fourth player in league history to score 2,000 career points.

Cynthia Cooper, Lisa Leslie and Jennifer Gillom are the only other players to have topped the 2,000-point plateau.

In five games this season, Stinson has scored more than 20 points on four occasions. Her scoring average of 21.2 points per game ranks fourth in the league.
