COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Florida State women's basketball standout Brooke Wyckoff will spend her third consecutive summer with USA Basketball as the West Chester, Ohio, native was one of 12 players selected Monday, by the USA Basketball Women's Select Team Committee, to the 2000 USA Jones Cup Team.

Wyckoff, along with 40 of the nation's top women's college basketball players, participated in six days of trials in Colorado Springs, Colo., in the 2000 USA Basketball Women's Summer Development Camp and the R. Williams Jones Cup Team Trials. The trials included 15 players with prior USA Basketball experience. Wyckoff was also one of four ACC players at the trials.

The USA Jones Cup squad will train July 2-12 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, before departing on July 12 for the R. William Jones Cup competition which will be held July 16-20 in Taipei, Taiwan.

In addition, the USA Basketball R. William Jones Cup Team will reassemble on Aug. 29 in Honolulu, Hawaii, to begin training for a Sept. 3 exhibition game with the USA Basketball Women's Senior National Team. The contest, held at the University of Hawaii, will be nationally televised at 5:00 p.m. (EST) on ESPN2 and will be the final domestic exhibition game for the USA National Team before it leaves for Australia to continue preparations for the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.

Wyckoff, the only ACC player to make the team, was a member of the 1998 Women's Select Team and was a starter on the Silver Medal-winning USA Team at the 1999 Women's World University Games. The 6-1 senior missed the first five games of FSU's 1999-00 season with a broken finger but rebounded to average 10.8 points and a team-high 7.1 rebounds per game. She earned Third Team All-ACC honors and was one of five league players named to the ACC's first All-Defensive Team last season after leading the league in blocks (34 total, 1.4 per game), finishing eighth in steals (45 total, 1.9 per game) and ninth in rebounds (170 total and 7.1 per game).

"Hearing that I had made the team was just as much of a rush as it was last year (when she was selected for the USA World University Games Team) and when I got called back to play two summers ago (1998 USA Select Team). Every summer I come here and you just never know. There's so many great players. It's a great feeling.

"I can't wait to play against the USA Women's National Team. I've never been to Hawaii and I've never obviously played against the Olympic Team and to just be around that kind of atmosphere and those type of people is going to be awesome."

Also named to the 2000 USA Basketball R. William Jones Cup Team were: Chantelle Anderson (Vanderbilt/Vancouver, Wash.), Sue Bird (Connecticut/Syosset, N.Y.), Camille Cooper (Purdue/Georgetown, Ky.), Marie Ferdinand (Louisiana State/Miami, Fla.), Deanna Jackson (Alabama-Birmingham/Birmingham, Ala.), Brandi McCain (Florida/Silsbee, Texas ), Loree Payne (Washington/Livingston, Mont.), Shea Ralph (Connecticut/Fayetteville, N.C.), Kelly Schumacher (Connecticut/Quyon, Canada), Michelle Snow (Tennessee/Pensacola, Fla.), Jackie Stiles (Southwest Missouri State/Claflin, Kan.) Five alternates for the team were also selected and include Erin Buescher (UC-Santa Barbara/Rohnert Park, Calif.), Rasheeda Clark (Pepperdine/Ontario, Calif.), Jenny Mowe (Oregon/Powers, Ore.), Ayana Walker (Louisiana Tech/Houston, Texas) and Angela Zampella (St. Joseph's/Hoboken, N.J.).

The USA Basketball Jones Cup squad will be headed by Virginia Tech head coach Bonnie Henrickson. St. Joseph's University (Pa.) head coach Stephanie Gaitley and Grambling State University (La.) head mentor David "Rusty" Ponton will serve as assistant coaches for the Jones Cup team.
