TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State University women's basketball Head Coach Sue Semrau has announced that Kodak Junior College All-American Shanelle Stallworth, a 6-2 forward from Daytona Beach Community College, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Seminoles.

Stallworth, who is a 1998 graduate of Pensacola High School, averaged 17.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game at Daytona Beach and is the school's all-time leadng scorer and rebounder. An all-state, all-region and first team all-conference player, Stallworth led her team to a 27-4 record, a No. 1 ranking in the state and a No. 6 ranking nationally this past season.

"We are extremely excited to have someone of Shanelle's character and ability join our program," Semrau said. "Shanelle is truly a student of the game. She is very focused, dedicated and self-motivated and with already having collegiate experience, we expect her to be an immediate contributor. We are also pleased to sign a player from the Panhandle. Pensacola High School and Dayton Beach Community College have a reputation for producing solid Division I student-athletes and we are thrilled to become a part of that tradition."

Stallworth, who wants to pursue a degree in the health profession, comes from a basketball family. Her brother Steve plays basketball at Xavier in New Orleans while twin sister Shanenne was a teammate at Daytona Beach CC. She selected Florida State over Clemson and Toledo.
