2009 ACC Women's Basketball Tournament - Game 7 Tournament Notes

March 6, 2009

Team Effort: Florida State got contributions from up-and-down the line-up, having five different players score in double digits. Seniors Mara Freshour and Tanae Davis-Cain each had 20 points, while Courtney Ward, Cierra Bravard and Jacinta Monroe each had 10 points. The five players in doubles figures is a first for the Seminoles against an ACC opponent this season.

Sue-per Coach: Earlier in the day, Florida State Head Coach Sue Semrau was named ACC Coach of the Year. By defeating the Eagles, Semrau earned her most wins in a single season (25). Semrau's previous high was 24 wins in a season accomplished twice (2004-05, 2006-07).

Fresh Start: Five minutes, ten seconds into the game, Mara Freshour had already scored ten points. The senior guard had amounted just nine points in each of the team's previous three contests.

Wire-to-wire: In a game fully dominated by the Seminoles, Boston College was never able to take a lead throughout the game. The 3-pointer by Florida State's Mara Freshour a sixty-six seconds into the game gave the team a lead which they would hold onto for the remainder of the contest.

Offensive Eruption: Florida State's 42 first half points are the third most in a first half by the team this season. The high of 45 first half points came against Temple on December 7 and against Clemson on January 11.

Series Perfection: The Noles are now 5-0 all time against the Boston College Eagles with an average margin of victory of 11.8 points.

Perfect Away from Home: Florida State improves 8-0 in ACC play when playing away from the friendly confines of the Tucker Center.

Halftime Lead: Florida State improved to 20-2 when leading the game at the half. Florida State led the Eagles at the half, 42-25.

Success from Beyond the Arc: Tanae Davis-Cain's four 3-pointers in the game against Boston College gives her the most 3-pointers in a single season for the Seminoles (68). The previous mark was held by teammate Mara Freshour with 65 treys in the 2007-2008 season.

Foul Trouble: Boston College battled foul trouble for most of the game. By the end of competition, the Eagles had three players foul out (Swords, Rusin, Johnson) and two additional players with four fouls (Pratt, Whitehurst).

Can I Get Some Assistance?: Courtney Ward's 6-assist game gives her 150 for the season, which is good for 4th place on Florida State's single season assist list.

Picco for Three: Mickel Picco's 3-point shot at 17:02 in the first half moved her into some possession of 3rd place on Boston College's career 3-pointer list. With three treys in the game, Picco now has 161 for her career.
