Pairings Announced for the 34th Annual ACC Women's Basketball Tournament
Feb. 27, 2011 GREENSBORO, N.C. – Duke clinched the No. 1 seed in the upcoming 2011 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament, which will begin Thursday, March 3, at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C. The ninth-ranked Blue Devils look to collect their second consecutive ACC Tournament title. The 34th Annual ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament is set to tip-off at approximately 11 a.m. ET on Thursday, March 3, and will conclude with a 1 p.m. championship contest on Sunday, March 6. The title game as well as the semifinals showings will be broadcast by Fox Sports Net (FSN) in HD, while the 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. games on Thursday, March 3, and Friday, March 4, will be televised on the league’s regional package (RSN). The Blue Devils defeated NC State last year in the ACC Tournament Championship game, earning the program its first conference tournament crown in six years. Duke owns six ACC Tournament titles, including a five-year stretch, the longest streak in ACC Tournament history. The Blue Devils will find out their quarterfinals opponent after No. 8 seeded Virginia takes on No. 9 seeded Wake Forest in the second game of the four-day event. Thursday: The 2011 ACC Women’s Tournament will mark the 12th consecutive year the Coliseum has played host to the event. Last year, the Tournament set a new single-game attendance record in the opening round’s School Day game with a crowd of 11,445 that featured approximately 7,800 elementary students, nearly 2,000 more than the year before.
