RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Duke's Alana Beard, who leads the Atlantic Coast Conference in three individual categories, was a unanimous selection to The Associated Press all-ACC women's basketball team released Tuesday.

Last year's ACC rookie of the year received all 46 first-place votes from members of the Atlantic Coast Sports Writers Association. The 5-foot-11 Beard, of Shreveport, La., was the only repeater on the first team in leading the Blue Devils to a 16-0 league mark and No. 5 national ranking.

The sophomore star is tops in the conference heading into this week's ACC tournament in points per game (19.1), field goal percentage (58 percent) and steals (3.33). Beard is second in assists (4.96) and third in assist-to-turnover ratio. She is also in the top 10 in rebounding and free-throw percentage and is the only player in the league with two 30-point games this season.

"Alana's leadership has just been incredible for us," Duke coach Gail Goestenkors said.

"She has taken control of this team."

"She's had a lot of pressure on her with very high expectations, but she is the most humble person I've ever been around. That has allowed her to take everything in stride and remain focused."

The ACC regular-season champion Blue Devils also placed sophomore forward Iciss Tillis on the team with 40 first-place votes. The 6-4 Tillis is second in the league in rebounding (8.4) and tied for fourth in scoring at 15.5 points a game. Duke is the only school to have had at least one player make the first team the last five years.

League runner-up North Carolina had Coretta Brown and Nikki Teasley make the squad in addition to Clemson's Chrissy Floyd.

Brown, a junior, is leading the ACC from 3-point range at 40 percent, while Teasley, the only senior to make the top team, is the best free-throw shooter in the conference at 87.3 percent and is tops in assists at 5.19.

Teasley, a former second- and third-team member, is second in ACC history with 679 assists and sixth all-time with 224 3-poiners.

Floyd, a junior, averages 17.0 points a game and led the ACC with 12 20-point games. Virginia's Brandi Teamer heads the second team. The 6-2 freshman missed making the first team by three points. She leads the ACC with 13 double-doubles and is the top rebounder at 9.1 a game.

Teamer is joined on the second team by Monique Currie of Duke, Telisha Quarles of Virginia, Kaayla Chones of North Carolina State and Georgia Tech's Sonja Mallory and Milli Martinez, who tied for the last spot.
