  • ACC Assistant Commissioner Bernadette McGlade played in the first three league tournaments as a member of the University of North Carolina Tar Heel squad, averaging 14.2 points and 12.5 rebounds and more than 31 minutes per game...she scored and rebounded in double digits in four of the six tournament games she played, including a 25-point effort in 1979 against Virginia and an 18- rebound performance in 1978 against Wake Forest.

  • How many times have all five starters for a single team scored in double figures in a single tournament game? 10 times: 5 by Maryland, 2 each by Virginia and Clemson, 1 by North Carolina.

  • A host of players have played at least one ACC Tournament game in its entirety, including 1993 Tournament MVP Dena Evans of Virginia who played in a league tournament record 55 minutes of the 106-103 triple overtime win over Maryland in the title game...in the 1997 tournament, Terp guard Kim Bretz played all 45 minutes in a 60-52 overtime loss to Duke...Maryland's Lisa Brown in 1986 and Georgia Tech's Devony Caldwell in 1992 played every minute of their three tournament games that year.

  • 500 wins and counting for another ACC coach! Virginia's Debbie Ryan became the third ACC coach to capture her 500th career victory as her Cavaliers defeated Florida State 73-55 on February 21...all 500 of her wins have come during her 22-year career at the University of Virginia where she is a six-time ACC Coach of the Year and was named Naismith Coach of the Year in 1991...Ryan has led the Cavaliers to 15 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, including three Final Four berths, nine regular season ACC titles and three league tournament crowns.

    DEFENDING THE HOMECOURT


    Through the final regular season game of the 1998-99 campaign, ACC teams were a combined 81-45 (.643) on their homecourts, led by the Duke Blue Devils who compiled a 13-1 record in Cameron Indoor Stadium...the team's only homecourt loss this year was a 72-70 decision against Virginia Tech on November 17.

    SOUNDS LIKE A BROKEN RECORD
    Three different schools set single game home attendance records during the 1998-99 season, including North Carolina who posted its first-ever sell-out crowd for a women's basketball game...10,000 spectators attended the Duke at UNC game in Carmichael Auditorium in Chapel Hill...almost as many poured into Cameron Indoor Stadium for the Tar Heels' visit to Durham as a school-record 8,572 fans attended the North Carolina at Duke game in the final regular season game...Wake Forest recorded an all-time single game high with 3,622 spectators in attendance for the Demon Deacons matchup with then No. 7-ranked Duke.
