Thomas and Boudreau Earn ACC Weekly Honors
Jan. 21, 2013 GREENSBORO, N.C. – Maryland junior forward Alyssa Thomas and Boston College freshman guard Nicole Boudreau have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, as announced Monday afternoon by the conference office and voted on by the Blue Ribbon Panel. Thomas averaged 23 points and 8.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Terps. She notched her 10th double-double of the season in Maryland’s 66-57 win at Georgia Tech on Jan. 20 when she scored a game-high 28 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. With a short Terrapin bench, Thomas showed her versatility, playing positions 1-4, and averaged seven assists per game. Against NC State, Thomas fought through early foul trouble and managed to total 18 points, seven boards and six assists in the 82-62 win. It is the third time Thomas has been named ACC Player of the Week this season and seventh time in her career.
ACC women’s basketball action continues tonight with No. 4 Duke taking on No. 3 Connecticut in Storrs live on ESPN2 at 7 p.m.
