Dominant Effort Moves Seminoles to 9-1

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The 23rd-ranked Florida State women's basketball team was dominant on both ends of the floor in a 94-42 victory over Mercer on Wednesday night at the Donald L. Tucker Center.

The Seminoles had a season-high 59 rebounds and a season-low 12 turnovers. FSU connected on 51.3 percent of its field goal attempts and held the Bears to just 23.2 percent from the floor, including 1-of-17 from three. Only one Mercer player scored more than six points.

It was a fantastic performance for Florida State, which improved to 9-1 overall and 6-0 at home, but not out of the ordinary this season.



No. 17 Carolina Holds Off ECU, 76-67

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Tierra Ruffin-Pratt scored 17 of her game-high 24 points after halftime and No. 17 North Carolina pulled away from East Carolina late, winning 76-67 Wednesday night at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Ruffin-Pratt beat the shot clock with a 3 inside the final minute to put away the Pirates, who led by a point at halftime.

Krista Gross had 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Erika Johnson and Megan Buckland each had eight for the Tar Heels, who enter the Christmas break 11-1.

Whitny Edwards finished with 15 to lead ECU (8-3), while her twin sister Britny added 12 and six rebounds.


Lady Tigers Take Down Providence in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Clemson women's basketball team shook off a slow start to surge past Providence (2-8), on Wednesday night at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. The Lady Tigers (3-7) set a school record that stood for more than 27 years for shooting accuracy in a half, hitting 15-of-20 (.750) from the field in the second half.

Clemson shook off a 12-point deficit early to lead by as many as 15, with Clemson outscoring the friars, 48-20 over a 20-minute span from the 12-minute mark of the first half to the eight-minute mark of the second half.

Nikki Dixon led Clemson with 18 points on 7-of-15 from the field. She's now scored 64 points in her last three games, and 43 of those have been in the second half.
