EVANSTON, Ill. - Freshmen Stefanie Murphy and Carolyn Swords combined for 48 points and 16 rebounds to lead Boston College past Wagner, 75-54, in the first round of the Mildred & Roger L. White Invitational on Friday night. The Eagles improved to 4-2 on the season, while Wagner is now 2-3.
Murphy led the Eagles with her career-high 28 points and seven rebounds, while Swords added 20 points and 10 rebounds, recording her first career double-double. Junior Brittanny Johnson added nine points, seven rebounds and four assists in the Eagles victory.
Wagner was led Andrea Reed and Ashley Olsen with 14 points apiece.
The Eagles led 18-0 before Wagner scored at 9:54 to play. Murphy scored 15 of the first 18 points, while Swords had the other three points in the run. The Eagles shot 45 percent from the field and took a 29-14 lead at the half.
