Nov. 19, 2009 Biggs' treys help Hokies in 70-41 win over Mason BLACKSBURG, Va. - It took her a couple of games, but Lindsay Biggs finally got back to her old self. After scoring only eight points combined in Virginia Tech's first two contests, the senior guard went off for a game-high 18 in the Hokies' 70-41 win over George Mason on Thursday night at Cassell Coliseum. She was on indeed, hitting 5-of-9 from the 3-point line and adding three free throws to account for the highest point total any Hokie has had this season. Lady Tigers Down Gamecocks, 94-92, in Double OT Clemson, SC - Clemson women's basketball used 21 points from junior Sthefany Thomas and 20 from sophomore Shaniqua Pauldo to defeat the South Carolina Gamecocks, 94-92, in double overtime in Littlejohn Coliseum. The Tigers (2-1)won their second straight over the Gamecocks (1-1) in just the 6th double overtime game in school history and the 4th overtime game against South Carolina. With the Tigers up one, April Parker fouled Valeria Nainima with 7.6 seconds remaining. Nainima hit the first of two free throws, but the second rimmed out to Kirstyn Wright. After a bit of a scrum, Wright found Pauldo, who raced down court, launching a three-point attempt with three seconds on the clock. However, Pauldo was hit by Kesley Bone while she was in the act of shooting, sending her to the line in a 92-92 game. Pauldo missed the first, but drained the second. The third shot hit front rim, but was corralled by Lele Hardy, earning her a double-double. Hardy was fouled and sent to the line where she made the first, giving Clemson a 94-92 edge with 0.3 seconds on the clock. Hardy missed the second but grabbed her own rebound to seal the win for Clemson. Thomas leads No. 11 Duke over Ga Southern 69-42. DURHAM, N.C. - Jasmine Thomas scored 12 points to lead a balanced offense and No. 11 Duke won easily in its home opener, routing Georgia Southern 69-42 on Thursday night. The Blue Devils (2-1) dropped from No. 6 to No. 11 in the poll this week on the heels of a 95-77 loss at Texas A&M on Sunday. Bridgette Mitchell, Keturah Jackson and Krystal Thomas had 11 points each for Duke. Joy Cheek added 10. J'Lisia Ogburn led Georgia Southern (1-1) with 11 points. No. 20 Maryland Defeats Old Dominion, 84-67 COLLEGE PARK, Md. - A more confident and dominant Terrapin team came out in the second half to defeat Old Dominion, 84-67, Thursday night in Comcast Center. Freshman forward Diandra Tchatchouang helped lead the No. 20 Maryland women's basketball team to its third straight victory in less than a week with a career-high 22 points. The Terrapins (3-0) earned their largest lead of the night of 26 points after scoring 16 to Old Dominion's three in the opening three and a half minutes of the second half. The shots started to fall after sophomore center Lynetta Kizer hit a lay-up just 30 seconds into the final 20 minutes of play. Fourteen points of Tchatchouang's career-high performance were earned in those first few minutes. Old Dominion (0-2) wouldn't go quietly, as it engaged a full court press, slowing the Terrapin offense.
