No. 14 Virginia Tops Manhattan, 86-68
Monica Wright exploded for 25 points on 10-for-10 shooting in the second half as part of a 31-point performance as the No. 14 Virginia women's basketball team scored an 86-68 victory over Manhattan Sunday afternoon in the 2009-10 home opener at John Paul Jones Arena.

Wright finished 12-for-14 from the field and 6-for-8 from the free-throw line as she fell four points shy of her career high of 35 points, set last year at Tennessee.

Freshman Simone Egwu added 13 points and nine rebounds, while Chelsea Shine scored eight points and added eight boards. UVa dominated on the boards, out-rebounding the Jaspers 46-29. 

Hurricane Offense Rolls in 111-93 Win Over CSU Bakersfield
The University of Miami women's basketball team (2-0) put on an offensive display in a 111-93 win over the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners (0-2), at the Icardo Center on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore Riquna Williams scored 30 points just two nights after netting a career-high 34 at UC Riverside. After clinging to a 50-49 half-time lead, Williams exploded in the first four minutes of the second half, as she hit five three pointers - as Miami pulled away for good. In all, Williams hit a career-high eight threes and has scored 30 or more points in back-to-back games.

Fellow sophomore Shenise Johnson recorded her first double-double of the season after posting 23 points and 12 rebounds. The Henrietta, N.Y. native also dished out seven assists in the victory, just three shy of a triple-double.

Duke Stunned by Texas A&M
Danielle Adams needed only one game to endear herself to Texas A&M fans.

Adams scored 24 points in 22 minutes in her Texas A&M debut and the Aggies stunned No. 6 Duke 95-77 on Sunday.

The Aggies (1-0) took the lead near the midway point of the first half and didn't trail again. Despite poor shooting, the Blue Devils (1-1) cut the lead to three points with about 14 minutes remaining, but the Aggies scored 10 straight points to make it 65-52 and Duke didn't threaten again. 

No. 19 Jackets Fall On Road to Oklahoma State, 70-64
Sophomore Sasha Goodlett scored a career-high 21 points but the 19th-ranked Georgia Tech women's basketball team fell to Oklahoma State, 70-64, Sunday afternoon in the second round of the Preseason WNIT at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Goodlett, who finished a career-best 13-of-16 from the free-throw line, scored 15 of her 21 points in the second half. The Jackets, who trailed the Cowgirls by as many as 11 points with four minutes remaining in the game, cut the score to 68-64 with a minute left but would not get any closer.

Junior Brigitte Ardossi registered 13 points and eight boards for the Jackets. Sophomore LaQuananisha Adams added 12 points and six boards off the bench.
