Holston, Gartrell Score 18 each in NC State’s 77-42 win over Milwaukee RALEIGH, N.C. – Three NC State players scored in double figures in leading the Wolfpack women to a 77-42 season opening victory over Milwaukee in the first game of the Wolfpack Invitational Saturday afternoon at Kay Yow Court at Reynolds Coliseum. Bonae Holston made a nice splash in her college debut with 18 points off the bench, while junior Nikitta Gartrell tossed in 18 points and senior Shayla Fields had 17. It was the fourth straight year the Pack opened the season with a 30-plus point victory. The story of the game was the Wolfpack’s shooting, which at times has been a struggle for Coach Kay Yow’s club in recent years. Not today as the Pack shot 55.6 percent (15-of-27) in the first half to take a 38-15 lead into halftime. Holston led the charge with 10 first-half points by making all four of her shots from the field.
