Swords, Thoman lead BC over Georgia Tech, 62-53

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College freshmen Carolyn Swords and Jaclyn Thoman combined for 27 points and nine rebounds to lead the Eagles to a 62-53 victory over ACC foe Georgia Tech at Conte Forum in front 4,218 fans on Monday night.

Boston College improved to 18-8 overall and 6-5 in the ACC, while Georgia Tech dropped to 19-7 overall and 5-6 in the conference. BC is now in fifth place in the ACC. The Eagles will travel to Tallahassee, FL to play Florida State at 7 p.m.

Swords finished with 14 points, four rebounds and two blocks, while Thoman added 13 points, while shooting 4-for-4 from the field, 3-for-3 from the three-point arc and 2-for-2 from the foul line. She also had five rebounds, two assists and three steals. Sophomore Ayla Brown added 11 points and six rebounds, while sophomore guard Mickel Picco contributed 10 points.

Georgia Tech was led by freshman Alex Montgomery, as she tied her career-high of 26 points. Iasia Heminway added 10 points and four steals in the loss.
