Wolfpack Handles Wake Forest with Ease, 63-38

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State finds itself in much better position within the ACC after a pair of league wins this weekend at Reynolds Coliseum. Sunday's victim, Wake Forest, went scoreless the first eight minutes of the second half allowing the Wolfpack to seize control in a 63-38 one-sided affair.

Khadijah Whittington and Megan Zullo each tossed in a game-high 12 points for NC State (14-7, 2-4 ACC). Whittington also hauled in 10 rebounds for her ACC-topping 15th double-double. The Pack also got nine points from Shayla Fields and Chanita Jordan and eight from Nikitta Gartrell.

Mekia Valentine came off the bench to pace Wake Forest (13-9, 0-8 ACC) with 11 points. Alex Tchangoue added seven points.

Jordan and freshman forward Gloria Brown were very effective in the first half, combining for 13 points. A 3-point play by Jordan put the Pack ahead 27-10 with 4:16 left until halftime.

Wake closed the half on a 10-2 run to get within arms length, but stilled trailed 29-20.

Sharnise Beal practically sealed the Pack's win by scoring seven straight points in a 16-0 run to open the half. By the time Corinne Groves tossed in a short jumper at the 12:01 mark, the Demon Deacons were down 45-22 and never threatened the rest of the way.
