DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Bridgette Mitchell has made a career out of doing a little bit of everything. She put all of her talents on display against Wake Forest.
Mitchell tied a career high with 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds to help No. 9 Duke defeat the Demon Deacons 65-51 on Sunday.
Jasmine Thomas added 13 points for the Blue Devils (14-2, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), who beat the Demon Deacons for the 33rd consecutive time. Duke, which led 35-15 at halftime, overcame a sluggish second half to win its 23rd consecutive home game.
CORAL GABLES - Riquna Williams scored 27 points to lead Miami to a 78-70 victory over No. 11/13Florida State in their Atlantic Coast Conference opener Sunday at the BankUnited Center.
The Hurricanes (13-2) withstood a late Florida State rally for their first win over a top-15 team since beating No. 10 Purdue on Dec. 19, 1991. The win also snapped an eight-game losing streak against the Seminoles.
Miami went on a 14-2 run midway through the second half, taking a 55-41 lead on Shenise Johnson's basket with 10:17 left. Stefanie Yderstrom's three-pointer with 9:55 remaining gave Miami its biggest lead, 58-43.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – NC State had its four-game winning streak snapped at the hands of Boston College, 83-66, Sunday afternoon at Conte Forum.
A 19-6 Wolfpack run that covered portions of both halves cut its deficit to 45-43, but in the end a disappointing start that saw NC State fall behind by 15 points was too much to overcome.
Bonae Holston led NC State (11-6, 1-1 ACC) with 19 points, while Nikitta Gartrell and Tia Bell added 15 and 10 points respectively.
