CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina wrestling head coach C.D. Mock announced the addition of one transfer and five prep standouts in the spring signing period Tuesday. With three fall signees, the Tar Heels will have nine newcomers when they take to the mat this fall. The class is rated No. 18 nationally by InterMat.

"We are understandably very pleased with this, our first recruiting class," said Mock, who completed his first year as Tar Heel head coach in 2004. "I believe this group, along with our returnees will establish the foundation for what UNC wrestling will become over the next five years. An awful lot of people helped this year in getting these guys to UNC. However, my assistant coach, Glen Lanham did a particularly tremendous job. My staff and I are very anxious to get on the mat with this bunch."

Transferring to Chapel Hill is former Michigan State heavyweight Spencer Nadolsky, who posted a 13-9 record as a redshirt freshman during the 2003-04 season. He placed fourth at the Eastern Michigan Open and was third at the Tar Heels' Rubbermaid Open. Nadolsky is a native of Holland, Mich., and attended West Ottawa High School.

Joining the Tar Heels next season from the prep ranks are Isaiah Britton (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock High School), Justin Dobies (Garfield Heights, Ohio/Garfield Heights High School), Alex Maciag (Sussex, N.J./Blair Academy), Jake Puckett (Charlotte, N.C./Independence High School) and Chris Ramos (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin High School).

Britton was a two-time PIAA Class AA champion, claiming titles at 135 and 140 pounds. He finished his high school career with a 143-9 record. He is expected to compete at 141 or 149 pounds at Carolina. Dobies, an Ohio state finalist, is slated to wrestle for the Tar Heels at 184 pounds. Maciag, who should wrestle at 174, was a prep national finalist, while Puckett is a North Carolina state champion and should wrestle at 165. Ramos, who finished third at the Pennsylvania state championships, is projected to wrestle at 149 pounds.
