EVANSTON, Ill. - University of North Carolina freshman wrestler Daniel Goetter recently placed fifth at the University Freestyle Nationals held at Northwestern University's Welsh-Ryan Arena and McGaw Hall April 27-30. With his fifth-place finish, Goetter earned FILA Nationals All-America honors.

Competing for the Carolina Wrestling Club, Goetter wrestled in the 120-kilogram weight class. He won his first two bouts over Bubba Gritter (Dec 1-0, 3-1) and Andy Patrick (Dec 1-0, 9-3) to reach the semifinals. Goetter lost to eventual champion Cole Konrad and also dropped his first consolation bout but came back to defeat A.J. Brooks (Dec 1-0, 3-2) to claim fifth place.

Goetter redshirted this past season for the Tar Heels but posted a 9-7 record wrestling unattached.
