ST. LOUIS - Although none are left unbeaten, four NC State wrestlers survived the first two rounds of the NCAA Wrestling Championships on Thursday and will advance to Friday's third round bouts.

Seniors Jake Giamoni at 149 pounds, Scott Garren at 157, Dustin Kawa at 165, and redshirt-freshman 125-pounder Jeremy Hartrum all split their first two matches. Freshman 197-pounder Zach Garren and junior 141-pounder Alex Hernandez both were eliminated on Thursday.

All six Wolfpack wrestlers faced ranked opponents on the first day. Hartrum opened his first NCAA Tournament with a big 5-4 upset of 10th-ranked Mark Moos of Michigan, but that was the Wolfpack's only victory against a ranked opponent.
