Four defending champions draw No. 1 seeds for ACC Wrestling Championship

RALEIGH, N.C. – Four defending weight class champions will be among the 10 number-one seeds for the 2010 Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestling Championships, which are scheduled for Saturday at NC State’s Reynolds Coliseum.
The brackets for the 56th annual event were released Friday night following a seeding meeting and draw by the coaches.
Maryland’s Steven Bell, the two-time defending champion at 133 pounds, is again seeded first in his weight class. Maryland’s Alex Krom (141), Virginia’s Chris Henrich (174) and Duke’s Konrad Dudziak (heavyweight) are other 2009 defending champions drawing No. 1 seeds for this year’s Championship.
Tenth-ranked Maryland (19-4, 4-0), which finished tied with 14th-ranked Virginia Tech (17-5, 4-0) atop the ACC regular-season standings, leads all schools with four top-seeded wrestlers in this year’s championship. Virginia Tech has three wrestlers seeded No.1 in their weight classes, while 22nd-ranked Virginia, NC State and Duke have one apiece (see list below). The doors to Reynolds Coliseum will open Saturday at 10 a.m., with first round action set to begin at 11 o’clock. The semifinals are set for 1 p.m., followed by the semifinal consolation matches at 3:30. The consolation finals are set for 5 p.m., followed by the championship matches at 7.
