COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland wrestling team (6-6, 1-3 ACC) placed fourth at the ACC wrestling championships on March 3 in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Terps captured 52.5 team points for fourth place while NC State garnered 78.5 team points to capture the conference title. The Wolfpack will take five wrestlers to nationals and the Terps boast four qualifiers, including two champions at the 133 and 141-pound weight classes.

Junior co-captain Brandon York (Gaithersburg, Md.) captured his third consecutive ACC title, the first Maryland wrestler to accomplish this feat since Steve Peperack in 1987. York holds a 29-3 overall record at 133 and is undefeated in conference competition for the season. Joining York is first-time ACC champion, junior Mark Mansueto (West Chester, Pa.). Mansueto, who is 25-9 overall, took first place at 141 and will make his second trip to nationals. He earned second place last year and a wildcard bid.

Junior Josh Weidman (Hershey, Pa.) overcame a tough loss in the pigtail round to come back and win two matches in wrestlebacks to take third place. Weidman was a 2000 NCAA qualifier and owns a 29-7 season record. He was also awarded a wildcard bid to the NCAA tournament this year. Making his first trip to nationals will be redshirt-sophomore Jake Stork (Mohrsville, Pa.). Stork had a stellar season with a 24-7 record and a team-high 12 falls. He placed second at 184 at the ACC championships, securing a wildcard berth to the national championships.

The Terps, along with 14 other ACC wrestlers, will represent the conference at the NCAA tournament in Iowa City, Iowa on March 15-18.
