GREENSBORO, N.C. - After leading No. 21 Maryland to two close team wins in dual meets last week, the Terps' Hudson Taylor has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestler of the Week. For Taylor, a redshirt-sophomore from Pennington, N.J., this week's recognition is his third of the 2007-08 season.
In his two matches last week, Taylor was a perfect 2-0 with two fall victories. In his first match of the week against Tyler Moyer of No. 22 Navy, Taylor was dominant, ending the bout in its first minute with a pin at the 59 second mark. On Sunday at league-opponent North Carolina, the 197-pounder was just as impressive as he earned the fall against the Tar Heels' Dennis Drury at 6:37. In each match, Taylor's points proved crucial to the Terps' victory. Maryland prevailed 21-18 against Navy, and then edged North Carolina by a score of 19-17.
Taylor is now 20-2 this season, and has not lost a match since Nov. 17. He and the Terps will look to continue their winning ways this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. when they host Virginia Tech in College Park, Md.
