GREENSBORO, N.C. - Virginia redshirt freshman Matt Bonson has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestler of the Week after posting three wins in dual meet competition last weekend.

Competing at 133-pounds, Bonson opened with a 6-3 decision over Navy's Aaron Kalil in the Cavaliers' first match of the Virginia Duals at Hampton, Va. Bonson followed with a pin of Clarion's Zach Oberlander in 1:52, helping key Virginia to a 1:52 victory.

Bonson, a native of Lewiston, Pa., then found himself matched against nationally 11th-ranked Dan Mitcheff in his third match. Bonson responded by posting a 10-7 victory, his sixth win in seven bouts.

Bonson moved to 11-4 on the season with the three wins. As a team, the Cavaliers defeated Clarion, 28-9, dropped a 20-15 decision to Navy, and came up short against 24th-ranked Kent State, 19-15.
