ALBANY, N.Y.- Junior Jake Stork (Mohrsville, Pa.) and senior Brandon York (Gaithersburg, Pa.) completed their first day of the 2002 NCAA Wrestling Championships at the Pepsi Arena in Albany.

Stork reached the second round before losing to fourth-seeded Jessman Smith of Iowa by a 10-2 decision. He earned a 9-7 decision over Fresno State's Eddie Gifford in the first round. Stork will play Tony D'Amico of Boise State in wrestlebacks tomorrow.

York lost to second-seeded Eric Larkin of Arizona State, 8-4, in the opening round. In wrestlebacks, Chattanooga's Jared Sullivan defeated Maryland's all-time winningest wrestler, 5-2, in the night session. York has been eliminated from competition.
