Two Terps Place Second At ACC Championships, Team Places 4th
March 8, 2003 For complete Mat Jam results, click here. BOONE, N.C. - The University of Maryland wrestling team registered a fourth-place finish Saturday at the ACC Championships here, highlighted by runner-up finishes by Jake Stork and Adam James.
Stork, a senior, scored a first-round bye with his No. 1 seed and was able to advance all the way to the finals before losing to North Carolina's Dusty Heist 10-4. The loss was the third time in three seasons that Stork has lost to an opponent that he beat during the regular season. James, a sophomore who was the No. 2 seed in the 149-pound weight class, wrestled well throughout the day, and finished in second place. His loss to NC State's Jake Giamoni, 13-7, prevented him from completing his quest for an ACC title.
Overall the Terps finished in fourth place with 36 points.
