NC State Takes Second At ACC Wrestling Championships

NC State won three individual championships, but North Carolina, with seven wrestlers in the championship round, easily defended its championship at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships in Lexington, Va. NC State finished second with 64 points, 26.5 points behing the Tar Heels. With its three individual champions, the Wolfpack leap-frogged past Virginia, which was second after the consolation finals. The Cavaliers finished with 61 points. Individually, redshirt-freshman Ryan Goodman won the championship at 197 pounds and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler, the first NC State wrestler to be named MOW since George Cintron in 2002. Sophomores Jeremy Colbert (184) and Kody Hamrah also won individual championships for the Wolfpack, while true freshmen Joe Caramanica (149) and Obie Simpson (165) took third.
