Terrapin Wrestlers Top James Madison

January 17, 1999

HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Terps rebounded from a tough loss on Wednesday against Navy to defeat James Madison, 31-17. Once again, Maryland fell behind early, but captain Ted Harlan (Glenmore, Pa.) and freshman Jake Stork (Mohrsville, Pa) responded with pins in the second and third matches of the afternoon.

In addition, redshirt freshman Brandon York (Gaithersburg, Md.), at 133 pounds, and Joe Guzzio (Greensboro, N.C.), at 125, continued their impressive seasons with convincing wins. York (No. 20, Amateur Wrestling News) improves to 14-1 as Guzzio added yet another pin to his statistics. Other winners for the Terps included 184-pound redshirt freshman Bill Moore (Silver Spring, Md.) and 197-pound junior Mike Tomaino (Allenhurst, N.J.).

Maryland moves to 2-1 on the season as the Dukes drop to 1-2. The next Terps match will be against NC State on Friday, Jan. 22 in Ritchie Coliseum beginning at 7:30 p.m.
