Blue Devils Rally To 26-22 Victory Over N.C. State

RALEIGH, N.C.— The Duke University wrestling team opened its Atlantic Coast Conference schedule in thrilling fashion with a 26-22 win over N.C. State at Reynolds Coliseum. The Blue Devils remain unbeaten in dual matches this season with a 5-0 mark.

The victory over the Wolfpack is the first ACC win for Duke since 2005, while it is the first time the Blue Devils beat N.C. State in 12 years.

“It was an exciting match, not a typical match where so many extra points were garnered for both teams from aggressive wrestling,” head coach Clar Anderson said. “I’m very pleased when you beat an ACC program. It’s a confidence thing and I think our guys are gaining confidence. Learning to compete when they’re injured and winning close matches is key, so hopefully they can gain from this victory.”
